JOB SUMMARY: The Weatherization Worker Trainee works under the supervision of and supports the Weatherization Supervisor, or designee, in the execution and timely delivery of repairs and weatherization services at private homes throughout Kings County. This position is responsible for learning and gaining experience on a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work aimed at making homes more energy efficient and other related duties as required and as assigned by the Weatherization Supervisor. The Weatherization Worker I works under the supervision of the Weatherization Supervisor, or designee, in the execution and timely delivery of repairs and weatherization services at private homes throughout Kings County. This position is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work aimed at making homes more energy efficient and other related duties as required. The Weatherization Worker II works under the supervision of the Weatherization Supervisor, or designee, in the execution and timely delivery of repairs and weatherization services at private homes throughout Kings County. This position is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work aimed at making homes more energy efficient and other related duties as required and serves as the lead person on the crew . DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Weatherization Worker Trainee Weather strip windows and doors. Replace broken glass and faulty thresholds. Glaze glass, repair holes, and caulk exterior and interior cracks as required. Install low-flow shower heads. Install duct wrapping, water heater blankets and other energy conservation measures. Install/repair evaporative cooling units and thermostats. Repair/patch walls for energy conservation. Complete forms as required. Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and trainings as directed. Ensure work site is clean and free of safety hazards during and after installation and repairs have been made. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment for safe and appropriate use; report the need for replacement or repair of tools and equipment to the Facilities Manager or designee. Follow KCAO, Funder, City, County, State, Federal and other applicable safety rules/guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Report any injuries or safety concerns immediately or as soon as practicable to the Facilities Manager or designee. Assist and support the Weatherization Supervisor, or designee, as needed and directed in completion of projects or other support that may be necessary to successfully manage the Energy and Housing program. Weatherization Worker II Install weatherization measures such as attic insulation, duct insulation, and water heater updates. Weather strip windows and doors. Replace broken glass and faulty thresholds. Glaze glass, repair holes, and caulk exterior and interior cracks as required. Install low-flow shower heads. Install duct wrapping, water heater blankets and other energy conservation measures. Install/repair evaporative cooling units and thermostats. Repair/patch walls for energy conservation. Responsible for documentation in the files and completes forms as required. Lead assigned crew in providing weatherization services. Provide training and technical assistance to crew as needed. Ensures all materials/tools are collected. Maintain and monitor adequate crew supplies. Provide information on material needs to Facility Manager. Assist in preparation of daily work activities for weatherization crew. Assist with maintenance and repair of facilities as needed. Ensure work site is clean and free of safety hazards during and after installation and repairs have been made. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment for safe and appropriate use. Report the need for replacement or repair of tools and equipment to the Weatherization Supervisor or designee. Follow KCAO, funder, City, County, State, Federal and other applicable safety rules/guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Report any injuries or safety concerns immediately or as soon as practicable to the Human Resources Associate and Weatherization Supervisor, or designee as appropriate. Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and trainings as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Weatherization Worker Trainee High school diploma (or equivalent) and work, school, or volunteer experience that promotes the likelihood of successful performance. Must be capable of becoming familiar with state and local weatherization and insulation requirements, as well as capable of maintaining an awareness of industry trends, current practices, and new developments. Weatherization Worker I High school diploma (or equivalent). Minimum of one (1) year weatherization/construction related experience. Must be familiar with state and local weatherization requirements, as well as possess an awareness of industry trends, current practices, and new developments. Weatherization Worker II High school diploma (or equivalent). Minimum of two (2) years weatherization/construction related experience. Must be familiar with state and local weatherization and insulation requirements, as well as possess an awareness of industry trends, current practices, and new developments. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: CSD training: OSHA 10, Basic Weatherization Training, Combustions Appliance Training, Duct/Shell Training, and Lead. (Weatherization Worker I/II) Ability to travel and attend out of area meetings, trainings, and conferences as required per the funding source(s). Ability to work flexible hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours. Must be able to meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include: Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI). Reliable, insured transportation and valid California driver license. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer. Health examination with tuberculin clearance. Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
