Position Purpose The Internal Auditor is responsible to provide assurance to the Audit Committee, the Board of Directors, and Management by carrying out independent audits and consulting services designed to add value and improve the organization's operations. Exceptions and recommendations relating to audits, reviews or investigations performed are reported to credit union management, the Audit Committee and/or the Board of Directors. Internal Audit is an integral part of the internal control structure of the organization and functions under the policies established by the Board of Directors and Management. Essential Duties Develop the annual Internal Audit risk assessment plan in conjunction with senior management. Prepare a three-year Internal Audit schedule based on the annual risk assessment. Develop audit programs as required through the audit plan. Complete audits in a timely manner as specified in the Internal Audit Plan. Assist in ensuring compliance with established internal control procedures by verifying and examining various accounts, records, financials, and operations of the credit union. Maintain an awareness of all developments in regulatory rules and requirements, audit standards, and audit techniques including best practices. Build and maintain strong working relationships with credit union staff and officials. Distribute audit reports, reviews, and memorandums to the Audit Committee and/or applicable credit union management. Recommend corrective actions that are necessary to resolve problems/discrepancies that are uncovered during the audit process and see through to implementation. Understand basic credit union products and services and determine the adequacy of internal controls. Other duties may be assigned. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance Experience in the financial industry is preferred Skills/Abilities Must have a good understanding of internal controls and processes, strong analytical mindset, and the ability to adapt to changing technologies. Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to relate to staff and stakeholders at all organizational levels. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters, at all times. Sound decision making, high accountability, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
