Job Purpose At PARR, our Drivers are essential to fulfilling the needs of our customers by making sure they are receiving their orders on-time and in great condition. The ideal driver is someone who is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service. The Driver reports directly to the Yard Manager and interacts daily with customers, dispatchers, receivers and load-builders, out of our Pasco, Washington location. Starting at $25.77 - $29.96 Depending on Experience Duties and Responsibilities Tasks: Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle Legally, safely and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads Complete mileage and fuel usage reports Demonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveries Learns and uses route planning and optimization Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery Perform daily pre-trip and post trip inspections of all equipment Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors and vendors Perform required safety audit of vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy Promptly report all accidents/incidents Annually update driver's qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy Maintain yard, warehouse and vehicle cleanliness during course of work Finds productive work to do in down time Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean Comes to work professionally attired Checks load for accuracy Proactively manages job site conditions for next delivery and communicates with others Job Knowledge: Completes required new hire training Always provides required paperwork and scanning for dispatch Seeks to learn products and their application for the end users Learns and follows established best practices Learns from mistakes and accepts coaching as opportunities Demonstrates legal and thorough knowledge of tie down rules and regs Understands weight, height, and length limits Ensures that all material transported on the truck has either an invoice or Material Returns Form Continues to participate in training as available Learning best practices related to efficient loading, strapping, and driving Teamwork: Always arrives on time and prepared to work Consistently finishes all work before leaving each day Adheres to company policy Adaptable to change Accepts experienced team member's advice and feedback Good attitude towards necessary tasks Remains solution focused Always present during loading process to assist load builders Takes ownership of mistakes Assists other team members with work when appropriate Promotes positive environment by having cheerful attitude and speaking well of others Mentors new teammates when possible Regularly takes initiative or volunteers to solve issues Communication: Writes legibly on all materials Open and accepts feedback well Uses cell phone proactively and is not afraid to ask questions Provides feedback related to customers, jobsites, issues, etc Ensures job site signs are installed Seeks to learn customer names and establish good relationships Consistently participates in team meetings and discussions Consistently read and follows instructions on deliveries Consistently contacts customers before next delivery Establishes good relationships with sales team and seeks to be their "eyes and ears" in the field Safety: Always wears high visibility/proper uniform Safety gear is always utilized (seatbelt, eye protection, ear etc) Always performs daily pre-trip and brake inspections Keeps truck clean on a daily basis Always operates equipment safely Always looks behind/honks when backing/rounding blind corners when operating Moffett Always demonstrates consistency in following safety protocols Always reviews and completes hold harmless form with customers Demonstrates care, has minimal product damage Proactively and consistently brings safety issues to attention of manager and team Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with safety Participates on safety committee as able Teaches and coaches teammates to learn from other's mistakes Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent Class B CDL or higher (air-brake endorsement preferred ) Current DOT Medical Card Acceptable driving record OSHA Certified Forklift License Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience Open and transparent communication Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications Driving experience within 50-mile radius of primary location preferred Interpersonal Skills Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon in an effort to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers Ability to function independently, as part of a team, and as a leader within your own cohort with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence Ability to think and respond quickly, positively and professionally to constantly changing circumstances Demonstrate positive interactions with external and internal Handbook Working Conditions This position will be working at a lumberyard and making deliveries at jobsites in all weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to pass DOT pre-placement physical and physical capacities examination Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
