Founded in 1948 by John Pridgeon and Donald Clay, we are one of the largest independent, value-added manufacturers and suppliers of automotive stamped and fine-blanked components in the United States. Objective : The Strategic Sourcing Specialist for Dies & Gages communicates company needs, negotiates contracts, and aids in supplier development in order to build strong supplier relationships and capitalize on supplier capabilities. Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field Experience in stamping-specific manufacturing and/or experience working in a similar purchasing position desired Strategic Skills: Business acumen of the automotive and industrial markets Familiarity with purchasing dies and gages Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Subject Matter Expertise: Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, specifications and information Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint) Deep understanding of cost drivers and market conditions as related to the procurement of stamping dies and checking fixtures Strong understanding of technical and regulatory environment Relationship Skills: Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate requirements with suppliers and processors and must be able to work with potential suppliers to determine optimal processes or parts for each desired application Strong active-listening and consensus-building skills, influencing team members and building credibility with all stakeholders Experience interacting both professionally and positively with internal and external customers Essential Functions: Strategic Sourcing/Project Management: Maximize knowledge of tooling market conditions to optimize company position in the marketplace and to maximize cost reductions and/or cost avoidances. Understand and execute the rules and regulations related to the import and export of dies and gages to foreign countries. Have knowledge of tax, duty and fee structures for all countries which company has chosen to purchase or sell dies and gages. Complete day-to-day activities that include specification clarification, proposal analysis, contract knowledge, supplier performance management, and supplier conflict resolution. Develop, advocate and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies for die & gage spending areas to achieve short and long-term savings targets. Manage areas of responsibility while driving continuous improvement. Develop annual cost reduction/avoidance programs and implement strategies that directly affect company financial results. Maintain project schedules; proactively and consistently follow up on assignments to assure successful completion. Prepare summary reports for the Director and Vice President of Supply Chain Management. Actively participate in the creation, execution, and report-out of departmental goals and objectives (metrics). Supplier Management: Negotiate contracts and/or write pricing agreements that are mutually beneficial to both Pridgeon and Clay and the supplier partners. Ensure critical issues are addressed, including, but not limited to, lead time, pricing, process and part capability requirements, part print level, extension clauses, cancellation clauses, payment terms and conditions, Inco terms, rebate programs, and penalty or reward clauses. Collaborate with the Customer Launch Teams and the Plant Tooling Departments (US, MX, HU) in the evaluation and selection of preferred suppliers for die and gage builds. Perform supplier evaluations to determine supplier capabilities, capacity and financial health. Maintain approved supplier listing. Collaborate with the Customer Launch Teams and the Plant Tooling Departments (US, MX, HU) in the evaluation and selection of preferred suppliers for tooling parts and services. Ensure that suppliers meet all contract requirements on tooling and gage builds and/or modifications, and that they are in compliance with company tooling and quality standards to ensure a robust mass production process. Request external quotes utilizing specifications, tolerances, designs and other requirements established by the Customer Launch Teams. Consolidate suppliers and minimize SKUs wherever and whenever possible. Coordinate phase-in and phase-out programs to minimize obsolescence. Track supplier performance. Establish improvement objectives and opportunities and work with supplier partners as needed to achieve those results. Create and implement procurement processes and programs that will be mutually beneficial to company and the suppliers. Target areas include die shoes, nitro cylinders, eye bolts, springs, sensors, cap screws, die steel, gage clamps, machining sources, etc. Track steel inventory at die shops on a monthly basis. Ensure QAD inventory is updated as needed. Establish scrap-optimization programs for both company and the die shops. Leverage company's position in the scrap market to maximize scrap-related revenue for company and the suppliers. Teamwork/Continuous Improvement: Assist the Tool Room & Central Stores to commonize die and gage components, negotiate prices, terms, consignment programs, etc., and optimize stocking levels. Attend Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) team meetings as required. Optimize and maximize the utilization of EAM. Continue to increase necessary technical knowledge (including Word, Excel, Outlook, QAD, EAM, CEBOS). Professionalism: Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job. Work necessary overtime, as needed, to ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks. Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area. Actively participate in Lean Office. Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS 16949 and safety regulations. Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management. Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives. Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner. Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect. Assist in maintaining company values (Integrity, People, Customers, Ownership, We Can If..., Safety) daily, through thoughts and actions.
