VES, LLC is seeking a Data Acquisition Engineer to support our efforts at Picatinny, NJ. Working with our product and data fabric teams, you will act as the technical contact while engaging with data suppliers to understand the technical and operational challenges of their data models, data collection processes, and data remittance. You will help with the data ingestion and onboarding of key supplier data and for comprehensive ingestion and staging of this data. Our team will also rely on you for your tactical army data knowledge and strong SQL skills." While this role can be performed remotely, we expect that the candidate will be required to occasionally travel to the Picatinny location. We have grown up to 47 employees, many of them getting our footprints established in other areas of the United States. This particular role will support our team in Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Established in 2014, our core competencies are the development of custom government off the Shelf (GOTS) infrastructure solutions, integrating mission command systems, and prototyping emerging technologies for use in the Army tactical architecture. We are a company built entirely of engineers, focused completely on solving the DoD's hardest software systems integration challenges. General Job Duties: Analyze all system data assets and investigate complex data anomalies Lead technical conversations with system owners and internal teams to resolve any data issues Provide guidance and support during the system owners onboarding process, which includes data ingestion, normalization, and QC activities Provide expertise in Data Modeling, Data Mapping, and Data Normalization Provide guidance and technical experties in the are of Data Cleaning techniques Oversee the lifecycle of reference data sources specified by the Data Architecture team. Support Data Architect in the mapping and normalization, providing expertise and authority on accurate meanings in source data. Required Skills: Proficient in programming against large data assets with a working knowledge of SQL or Python Knowledge of US Army data assets and analytics utilized by Mission Command Systems Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities Strong technical communication skills working with a variety of audiences Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment The ideal candidate can demonstrate proficiency in one or all the following: A data geek with enviable SQL or python skills and a passionate sense of ownership Experience with Apache NiFi A self-starter who enjoys working in a small, rapidly changing, fast-paced environment Confident enough to course-correct a process or team when required Methodical, executing through several approaches to determine the best fit Energized by learning even if outside the scope of day-to-day responsibilities Comfortable working on several different tasks throughout your workday Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or comparable 5-7 years of experience in Research & Development or Test & Evaluation environment. Active security clearance is preferred. US Citizenship required to obtain clearance if not already held.
