Able to care for and assist children who are in Preschool, and/or Pre-K, in a variety of situations. Communicate effectively to children and their families, fellow coworkers, and anybody who is involved in the work field. Be creative in developing and participating in activities for children. Able to respond to emergencies and follow the guidelines layout by DHS and the center. Ensure that the environment is safe and child-proof daily. Education Training, and Experience Required: Registered as Early Childhood Teacher in the Department of Human Services Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from an accredited College or University and a minimum of 6 months of experience working in an Early Childhood Education program. Or CDA and a minimum of 1-year experience working in an Early Childhood Education Program Or 60 Credits in a Degree Program and, Certificate in Early Childhood (16 Credits) and a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an Early Childhood Education Program Or Bachelor in Elementary Education from an accredited College or University and, 6 Credits in approved ECE and/or CD courses (may be part of bachelor's Degree) and a minimum of 6 months experience working in an Early Childhood Education program Or Bachelors in any field from an accredited College or University and 12 Credits in approved ECE and/or CD courses (may be part of bachelor's degree) with a minimum of 6 months of experience working in an Early Childhood Education program Skills Early Child Development knowledge and experience Good communication, problem-solving, and priority-setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude and disposition Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being Must be able to manage confidential information All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children. Therefore, each employee must always be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children and adults with mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression, and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions, as well as inappropriate emotional expression, are not acceptable. Physical Requirements: An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: Frequently walk, uses hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk. Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and, in case of emergency, a 40-pound child Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
