Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsible to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, conveyors, and other excavating equipment. Responsibilities and Expectations As a crucial part of Horst Excavation's Self-Perform team, you'll be expected to perform the following with the highest degree of precision and quality: Diagnose faults and malfunctions to determine repairs needed utilizing various tools and equipment such as computers and diagnostic programs. Operate and inspect heavy equipment to diagnose defects or areas of concern. Repair and replace damaged and worn parts of heavy equipment. Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications. Perform welding repairs on equipment as needed. Dismantle heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. Perform necessary adjustments to equipment to keep pieces properly performing. Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Assist with general shop clean-up. Properly follow company policies and safety standards. Communicates any observed deviations from the project specifications to their supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Requires basic academic education, (high school diploma or equivalent). Vocational training preferred. Minimum 2 years of Heavy Equipment Mechanic Experience. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to use necessary tools and equipment. Ability to perform PA state inspections is strongly preferred. Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English. Must have ability to apply basic shop mathematics and handbook formulas. Advanced skill level in using a variety of calibrating instruments and mechanical tools. A current valid driver's license is required. Will be required to obtain all clearances required to work on school projects, including but not limited to the Pennsylvania and Federal criminal history records, fingerprint submission, Act 34 background check, and Act 151 child abuse clearances.
