Job Description : We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer/Project Manager for our next-level emergency response team in Edison, NJ, less than 60 minutes from New York City. The position will support the EPA's Emergency Response Team (ERT ) Response Engineering and Analytical Contract (REAC) team-a critical link in our nation's environmental safety support system. REAC teams bring next-level advanced support and response to national and international incidents involving releases of oil and hazardous materials and at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. The REAC team has been called upon to conduct environmental analyses in the aftermath of numerous incidents, such as the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, the Hart Senate Office Building and U.S. Postal Service facilities anthrax threats, and the Space Shuttle Columbia accident. This is Team Lead position that mentors junior engineers and other staff in project management and emergency response, evaluating and preparing environmental investigation and remediation work plans, designs and reports, developing strategies for the remediation and closure of large CERCLA and RCRA sites, evaluating site documentation for compliance with federal, state and local standards, report writing, and oversight of field investigation/remediation activities. Salary Range: $105,000 to $135,000 DOE Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in engineering and 14 years of experience in a variety of environmental investigation activities such as standard RI/FS studies, engineering evaluations/cost analyses, remedial technology selection and evaluation, treatment system design and pilot testing, and treatment system performance monitoring and optimization and problem resolution Project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management Ability to maintain preparedness for immediate mobilization Experience with Federal (CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA) environmental programs Experience reviewing mid-level and junior-level technical work Experience developing and implementing site-specific work plans and scopes of work Experience providing technical assistance during field investigations (soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling). Expertise in the design, evaluation and advice on treatment and cleanup approaches or technologies at hazardous waste sites, oil-petroleum product/chemical spills, and hazardous waste emergencies Experience conducting studies that support engineering evaluations, cost analyses or selecting site cleanup alternatives Ability to process reviews, including equipment sizing, processing schemes, optimization and cost estimates of selected treatment options Field engineering skills to support monitoring or oversight of site cleanups. Revegetation and restoration plans experience, including bioengineered solutions for erosion, stream bank stabilization, and contaminants immobilization and degradation A background in treatability studies, utilizing both established and innovative/emerging technologies, in order to further evaluate the potential performance of a viable remedial alternative. Studies may run from bench through field scale. The studies could include water, soil, groundwater, sediments, and in- situ systems. Experience in the determination of performance efficiencies for treatment technologies. This includes estimation of the environmental fate of contaminants and the final achievable concentrations in air, water, soil, and mixed media. Experience preparing reports on methods and procedures as part of overall project Capability to assist other TechLaw offices with field work activity upon request Preferred Qualifications: Practical field experience with emergency response, field instrumentation, treatment systems, multimedia environmental sampling, report writing, data interpretation, design, and decontamination strategies. HAZWOPER, PMP, Incident Command System (ICS) 100-800, and First Aid/CPR certifications Professional Engineering (PE) certification Physical Requirements: The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
