General Description: The Indiana STEM Cadre Coach will increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction by facilitating a comprehensive, ongoing STEM coaching program in grades four through eight. The coach will assist in aligning instruction with best practices in the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across content areas to meet the needs of all students. The coach will serve as a key driver of STEM initiatives at the school and will report on coaching activities to school administrators and the Indiana STEM Cadre Project Team. Primary Responsibilities Participate in all professional development provided by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and the Indiana STEM Cadre Project Team including: Weeklong on-site summer training Collaboration Network (CN) sessions - synchronous or asynchronous, twice a month from August-May, and Other professional development and training provided by the IN STEM Cadre Project Team. Collaborate with educators in grades four through eight to: Expand educators' knowledge of best practices in integrated STEM instruction. Implement professional development on high-quality integrated STEM instructional practices. Assist in instructional planning with individuals and groups of teachers. Plan and execute a comprehensive STEM coaching program that includes: Ongoing, structured coaching cycles with teachers across subject areas in grades four through eight that consist of observation and feedback, lesson-modeling, co-teaching, mentoring, and facilitating academic reflection Creation and monitoring of specific, measurable instructional goals to drive improved student outcomes through integrated STEM instruction Routine collection, reporting, and utilization of data to drive instructional decisions at the school and classroom level Timely and complete documentation of coaching activities with school administrators and IDOE. Collaborate with school leaders and stakeholders to: Formulate and communicate goals and action steps related to STEM integration across subject areas, Meet at least once per month to review coaching activities, progress toward goals, and to formulate next steps, Manage implementation of STEM curriculum and/or frameworks. Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with students, educators, administrators, and the IN STEM Cadre Project Team. Provide professional development to staff based on learning at Collaboration Network sessions. Model continuous learning, maintain current progress, and serve as a thoughtful resource for advancement of STEM integration. Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, articles, and texts. Effectively present information and respond to questions from different stakeholder groups. Assist in gathering survey and assessment data as required by the IDOE. Create and maintain a shared coaching calendar, making the calendar accessible to teachers and administrators as well as the IN STEM Cadre Project Team. Solve practical problems and offer solutions that align with STEM integrated instructional practices. Perform duties in compliance and accordance with all IDOE and district requirements and policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; minimum of five years of teaching experience. Expertise related to STEM content and pedagogy.
