COMPASS Inc. is currently seeking a full time Prevention Educator to work with school-age children and teens to educate them about sexual assault and rape in order to promote prevention and reporting. COMPASS, an affiliate of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, provides services to all survivors of rape and sexual abuse - women, children, men - and their loved ones in Carroll, Tuscarawas and Stark Counties. Their programs include crisis intervention and advocacy, and education and prevention. Our Prevention Educator will: Develop and implement an age appropriate curriculum focused on sexual violence prevention Schedule classroom presentations in all cooperating schools Administer, record, interpret, and report on all pre- and post-tests Establish an ongoing dialogue with school administrators, teachers, and interested others. Provide students, teachers, and parents with the necessary referrals for follow-up services Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and practices, as well as safety and security regulations. Provide coverage on the 24-hour rape crisis hotline and provide hospital advocacy as needed Maintain client confidentiality of all persons served Carry out other assignments as required by the Executive Director consistent with goals and purpose of the agency Our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the effects of sexual violence on the victim, the family and the community. They will carry on our mission to promote the healing of individuals impacted by sexual violence and to create social change. This individual will also support and carry out our vision of a community where all people can live free of sexual violence. Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, or related field. Experience in working with victims of crime. Must be experienced in public speaking. Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position including but not limited to inside sedentary work. Frequent forward, horizontal reach at desk and occasional stair climbing, stooping/bending, push/pull up to 10 lbs. Occasional standing during presentations.
