SGI Global (SGI) is currently seeking an Event Planner/Administrative Assistant for an anticipated Department of Navy (DON) project. The Department of Navy Assistant for Administration (DON/AA) Programs and Integration Division (PID). PID supports the Navy Secretariat by managing key programs, administrative processes, authorized charitable campaigns, and Secretariat events. SGI is looking for an event planner to assist the DON in event planning, execution, and assessment. Types of events include (but not limited to): charitable campaigns, military retirements, re-enlistment ceremonies, award ceremonies, SES large and small group events, and off-sites. The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating event planning and execution of large-scale DoD events and have working knowledge of DoD structure, protocols, and regulations. It is expected that the candidate will primarily work onsite (Washington, DC) with occasional travel to offsite locations for venue selection, vendor discussions, and event execution. Overview of Job: Responsible for entire event planning and protocol support, from start to finish, involving all logistics, protocol and consideration of policy-related matters. Create and maintain a plan for every event requirement in accordance with DON/AA guidance Be available on site to support event execution. Communication with DON/AA PID is essential to success during event execution. Collect evaluation information during and after the event to provide data to the Government for analysis post event Provide innovative ideas to DON to optimize event planning and execution Coordinate with SGI Global leadership on upcoming events and potential opportunities Qualifications of the Role: 10 years of event planning and execution (ideal candidate will have experience planning and executing large scale DoD events) Knowledge of DoD operations (ideal candidate will understand DON rank structure both for military and civilian) Demonstrated ability to problem solve, multitask and work in a fast paced environment; Willingness to travel nationally, likely local to the DMV area (approximately 25% of time) Pursuant to Federal contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. Citizens and be able to pass standard government-sponsored credit and background checks.
