Environmental Supervisor

Reports To: Director, EHSS Description: The Environmental Supervisor is also referred to as the Environmental Management Representative. As such this person performs technical assignments to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations on all local, state and federal levels (if not contracted out). Conducts required environmental audits and assessments at the various plants. Performs problem solving techniques to improve and maintain the environmental standards of the plants. Coordinates and implements engineering methods to the processes that support, cost and delivery goals and objectives. Supports and works closely with corporate environmental consultants on subject topics such as the Environmental Compliance Calendar, EPCRI - TRI, Air Emissions, Storm Water, Hazardous and Universal Waste, Hazardous Waste Management, etc. Responsibilities: Responsible for the maintenance and updating of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Collects and maintains records to insure compliance of materials and to have data to report malfunctions in the system should they occur Production data collection, usage and waste, stack testing while working with a third-party consultant Waste and storm water testing and reporting to both local and federal levels as needed Maintains monitoring instrumentation and equipment for waste and storm water collection Hazardous Waste reporting Performs audits for compliance and to evaluate and control environmental hazards Assists Safety in coordination of noise levels and air quality. Trains associates on yearly required compliance activities. Example - Hazardous Waste, Spill, DOT Manifest training Ensure SDS(s) are available and evaluated for hazards; Accumulates and stores all records of environmental issues within and related to each physical plant Conducts Environmental Management team meetings as necessary Supports and participates in EHSS activities as necessary Must work in a safe manner in compliance with KNA policies and maintain an awareness of danger to themselves and others Support the implementation, achievement, and maintenance of the Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures Primary 1st Shift Activities, but must be able to work any shift and overtime if necessary Must be required to travel on a limited basis Title V compliance Tier II reporting and compliance Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer Education: BS Degree plus 5 years environmental experience Manufacturing experience in injection mold / plastics helpful Experience: Five to Ten years or more specificity in the environmental area Training specific to placement into position Auditing training - preferred Skills: Ability to work independently in absence of supervision Ability to operate modern office equipment, including computers and various software applications Physical Demands & Working Conditions: The overall nature of the position requires constant light physical exertion with minimal physical effort frequently required There is very limited exposure to environmental noises and hazards, extreme cold, extreme heat, temperature changes and wet conditions, and occasional exposure to humidity and other atmospheric conditions. Other: Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills.
