Accounting Manager

Description:
The position manages and directs the day-to-day plant accounting and preparation of plant cost information. Manages the month end close process for the plant, working in cooperation with the head corporate finance staff. Performs monthly variance and trend analysis, reports on actual versus budget variances and works with the Plant management team to identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, operating efficiencies, and best practices. Prepares various financial statements and reports, on a monthly basis as well as for ad hoc requests. Manages and prepare monthly analysis for all plant General Ledger accounts, ensuring timely follow up on any unusual or unexpected variances. Manages monthly forecasts,annual budget and annual 5 years strategic plans, leads the plant management group with budget preparation and on-going budget adjustments throughout the year. Manages the CAPEX process at the plant level, including assisting with the preparation of capital authorization requests, forecasting CAPEX spending, monitoring project spending, and ensuring timely capitalization of capital projects; update Fixed Asset Ledgers as required. Serves as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety, and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors. Works with the head office corporate finance staff and local plant management to: (a) establish and monitor system controls, (b) develop procedures to improve existing systems and (c) ensure that corporate policies and procedures are being adhered to. Support plant management team with share service. Coordinates the preparation of external and internal audit materials. Attends daily operations meeting for full management support.
