Senior Controller for Non-profit Exempt Position ($110,000 - $130,000 a year) ETTA seeks a seasoned accounting/finance professional to serve as its Senior Controller , accountable for the financial management of the organization. This senior team member will play a crucial role in continuing ETTA's strong record of creating services to meet the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Senior Controller's charge includes maintenance of accounting records, day-to-day oversight of the Accounting Department, ensuring a comprehensive set of controls, annual planning/budgeting, production of periodic internal and external financial reports (e.g., annual GAAP-compliant audited financial statements, non-profit tax returns), supporting the Board of Directors in financial matters, etc. Essential Roles, Responsibilities, and Activities: Assess the financial performance of the organization. Oversee all financial aspects of operations. Accounting Ensure that accounting records are properly maintained. Day-to-day oversight of the Accounting Department. Set targets for and supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate accounting/finance staff. Perform month-end and year-end closings, adjustments, reconciliations, and analysis. Procedures and Controls Maintain and ensure adherence to a documented set of accounting policies/procedures. Oversee and update as needed the administration of processes and internal controls designed to protect assets and mitigate risk. Substantiate that documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits. Internal and External Financial Reporting Generate monthly internal financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows and Budget Variance). Prepare ad hoc reports, as needed. Oversee year-end audits and ensure timely preparation of GAAP-compliant audited financial statements. Oversee and ensure timely filing of tax returns and compliance with other federal/state requirements. Financial Planning and Analysis Develop financial strategies for sustainability and program expansion. Implement and improve ETTA's annual 3-year planning/budgeting process. Collaborate and support Program Director/Managers to maximize department efficiency and effectiveness. Other Responsibilities Prepare materials for and attend relevant Board, Board Committee, and Board member meetings as needed to support financial matters, such as annual budget and audit approvals, variance report presentations, etc. Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, etc. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants. Oversee activities above for partner organizations (e.g., Cornerstone Housing for Adults with Disabilities) as needed. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience in the non-profit sector. 10+ years of progressively responsible experience, including successful supervisory responsibility, preferably for non-profit organizations with annual revenues of $15 million to $100 million. Knowledge of non-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Certified Public Accountant designation preferred. Experience interfacing with individual donors and foundations preferred. Non-profit real estate construction accounting experience preferred.
