CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Welcome Center Case Manager Title of Supervisor: Administrator Organizational Unit: Catholic Social Services/Casa del Carmen Hours: Varies with evening and weekend hours as needed Classification: Full Time Location: Migrant Welcome Center MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides intensive case management for newly arrived individuals and families coming from the Southern United States border. Provide initial intake and assessment making goal plan with individuals and families working collaboratively with housing coordinator and other agencies involved in resettlement effort. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Provides initial intake, assessment, and evaluation for those processed at the Welcome Center · Assist with, and coordinate travel needs · Develops a Family Resettlement Plan to target areas to help with self sufficiency · Works in collaboration with the Housing Coordinator in finding safe and affordable housing · Ensures participants are provided appropriate seasonal clothing and food or food allowance; · Helps to provide cultural and community orientation to new city and neighborhood · Assist participants in applying for social security cards and any other necessary identification such as Employment Assistance Documentation (EAD) - if eligible; · Assist participants in applying for assistance governmental and private assistance as needed; · Help to register children in school; · Enroll participants in ESL classes and follow up with participants to encourage their regular attendance; · Refer participants to employment services and follow up with participants and employment services to ensure job placement and retention; · Assist participants with connection to low cost or free immigration legal services · Contact area service providers to provide them with program information and to inquire about available services. Make referrals as appropriate; · Maintain clear and accurate case notes of all services provided in the case record; BE sure to include copies of all necessary documentation applied for and received · Produce reports in a timely manner; · Participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings; · Perform other duties as assigned. REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and orientation of philosophy of the Agency's policies as presented in Catholic Social Services Mission Statement. Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic values and teachings as you are representing the agency when with clients and other agencies and institutions Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, participants, and visitors; cultural sensitivity and the ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse work place with a diverse client population is required. Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information, and orient new staff to same. Exceptional interpersonal personal skills that permit candidates to work with a diverse community and build collaborative relationships with a variety of community stakeholders. Ability to responsibly prioritize competing tasks but also follow through in a timely manner. Capacity to follow meticulous record-keeping/reporting protocols. Ability/Desire to work cooperatively as a team with other staff, the client, and client's circle of support. Availability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekend hours. BSW required [Preferably in Social Work or related field] At least two years of relevant experience in providing services to low-income immigrant families. This requirement may be substituted by additional relevant education Possess a valid PA State Driver's License and provide proof of automobile insurance/clean driving record. Fully Bi-lingual (written and oral) in English and Spanish. Bi-Cultural understanding of Spanish speaking communities in and around Philadelphia. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
