VES, LLC is seeking an Ada Software Engineer with experience in modernizing legacy systems written in Ada and interfacing Java with Ada code to work on our Fire Support Command and Control (FSC2) system. As an Ada Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions using the Ada programming language and GNAT Pro compiler, as well as porting Ada code to modern Java code to support our efforts at Picatinny, NJ. While this role can be performed remotely, we expect that the candidate should be relatively local to APG, MD or Picatinny Arsenal, NJ and will be required to occasionally travel to either location. ABOUT VES, LLC We are a small business headquartered out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. We have grown up to 47 employees, many of them getting our footprints established in other areas of the United States. This particular role will support our team in APG, MD, and Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Established in 2014, our core competencies are the development of custom government off the Shelf (GOTS) infrastructure solutions, integrating mission command systems, and prototyping emerging technologies for use in the Army tactical architecture. We are a company built entirely of engineers, focused completely on solving the DoD's hardest software systems integration challenges. General Job Duties: Develop, maintain, and enhance software components and modules using the Ada programming language and GNAT Pro compiler Modernize legacy systems written in Ada by porting code to modern Java code Interface Java with Ada code Collaborate with other software engineers and stakeholders to ensure that software solutions meet the needs of end-users Participate in code and design reviews, and ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise Work with the Atlassian tool suite to track and manage software development tasks Familiarity with professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including requirements elicitation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, testing, and operations Ability to write code and documentation that is maintainable for years down the line but easily adaptable to changing requirement Required Skills: Strong knowledge of Ada programming language and its associated technologies and tools Experience in modernizing legacy systems written in Ada and porting code to modern Java code Knowledge of software development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field At least 5 years of experience in software engineering and development, including experience with the Ada programming language and GNAT Pro compiler Active security clearance is preferred VES offers a rich benefits package that includes: 401(k) match Highly Competitive Salary Up to 15 Paid Vacation days / year 11 Paid Holidays Flexible work/life balance culture VES is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
