This position reports to the Mechanical Engineer III and will work intimately with R&D and Manufacturing to help development the first generation of ION's state-of-the-art solid-state battery technology. The Mechanical Engineer I will support specific development projects related to design and manufacturing challenges. Responsibilities: Design and develop battery cell components and assembliesDevelop component and system verification proceduresSupport battery cell prototyping and fabrication effortsSupport product development efforts using engineering best practices such as DFMEA, Decision Matrices, and Design of ExperimentMaintain detailed documentation for all phases of work Required Experience: 0-3 years of product development or manufacturing experienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Required Skills: Experience working in R&D labs and manufacturing environmentsExcellent problem solving skillsFamiliarity with CAD software such as Solidworks or CreoExperience with fabrication of small, precision parts Department : Cell Engineering Location: Beltsville, MD*This role is fully in-person Reports to: Mechanical Engineer III Benefits: In addition to a competitive salary, we offer the following company benefits:Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceStock options in an early-stage companyCompany and floating holidays17 days of PTO to start, with increase upon tenure401k plan with a 4% company match beginning after first paycheckWellness allowance of $1k annually Company Description Ion Storage Systems Inc., located in Beltsville, MD, is a rapidly growing company commercializing its breakthrough lithium metal battery technology based on discoveries made at the University of Maryland.
