February 6, 2022TO: To All interested persons Bonneville County is now accepting applications for the following position: Position : Driver License Examiner I Starting Salary: Pay Grade 10 - starting salary $16.37 per hour Work Hours: 40 hours a week Closing Date: Applications will be accepted until position is filled. GENERAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of introductory entry-level clerical and examiner duties related to the processing of applications, testing and issuance of drivers licenses, concealed weapons licenses and sex offender registrations. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Operationally, works under the close to general supervision of the Driver's License Supervisor or Driver's License Examiner II. Driver's License supervisor performs performance evaluations. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: perform bookkeeping and accounting for revenue taken received through the driver's license, concealed weapons and sex offender registration office; may prepare bank deposit and deposits monies with the County Clerk's office; follows up on insufficient or account closed checks. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates the ability to: perform driver education program enrollments with participating schools; collect fees and issue receipts; balance receipts with revenues. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: administer driver's license tests to include; application process, written and verbal tests, visual exam, etc. for highway operator's license and commercial driver's licenses and endorsements; ensure security and integrity of testing materials, monitor applicants directly or via surveillance equipment. Obtain commercial driver's license certification. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: receive and process applications for adults and juveniles; verify the authorization for juvenile drivers; review and approve required documentation, i.e. birth certificate, social security number, etc. Obtain a Driver's License document examiner certificate. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: operate computer and other office equipment as needed to update operational records and licensing information; assist law enforcement officers to administrative and criminal investigations. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: deal effectively with the members of the public who apply and test for driver's licenses, concealed weapons permits and submit sex offender registration; respond to public complaints; communicates operational practices, policies and procedures to instruct and educate the public. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: generate daily and monthly reports; collate documents for mailing or electronic filing to state offices; perform various records maintenance, filing, etc. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: perform general office maintenance duties; assure availability of materials, state-issued forms, handbooks, manuals, etc.; maintain inventory as needed. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: receive and process applications for concealed weapons, follows required procedures related to applicant histories, background checks, file set up, identification appointment schedules, etc.; assist in the administration of the concealed weapon permit program; apprise public regarding permit requirements; collect permit fees and issue receipts; obtain finger prints and related background information; apprise applicants of license approval, denial or revocation; enter approved permits into computer/teletype system. Obtain teletype certification. During an introductory period, learns and demonstrates ability to: receive and process information and applicants pertaining to the Sex Offender Registry program; collect registry fees and issues receipt; obtain fingerprints and related background information; enter registered offenders into the computer system; help in monitoring and notification of potential violations. Drive a Sheriff's Office vehicle as assigned. Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Educations and Experience: A. Graduation from high school with course work in the fields of bookkeeping, accounting and general office practices; AND B. One year of experience performing related duties; OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of general office management practices and procedures; basic bookkeeping and accounting methods; interpersonal communication skills; and computer terminal operation and data processes. Ability to develop effective working relationships with subordinates, department heads and other state officers and employees; perform related mathematical computations; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; read, interpret and correctly apply Idaho laws affecting total operations of drivers licensing; operate standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, typewriter, and photo copy machine). Special Qualifications: Ability to type and operate a ten key calculator Possess a valid Idaho Driver's License During Introductory Period, Obtain: teletype, Driver's License Document Examiner and Commercial Driver's License Examiner certifications Successfully complete other required training Must successfully meet all requirements in a Sheriff's Office Background Investigation Work Environment: Incumbents of the position perform in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of physical activities, occasionally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Talking, hearing, seeing, and communicating essential to task completion. Regular travel required. Certain elements of the job may pose hazard uncertainty. Rapid work speed required performing keyboard operations. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking. Drive a Sheriff's Office vehicle as assigned.
