Description:
Role Objectives: Set-up and operate Hobs, Hurth mill, CNC Mitsubishi and Grob Spline Roller, cutting machines working from process routings, blueprints, P&M sheets and verbal instruction. Make necessary adjustments to machines and tooling to make quality parts. Set-up and operate grinders to grind parts such as shafts, gears, hubs, sleeves, yokes and stub ends. Uses prints to process routings, P & M sheets to obtain grinding requirements, fixtures and part dimensions and finishes Principal Role Activities: Interprets Engineering and process document requirements for operation and work piece to visualize work to be done and plans sequence of operations. Locates arbors and tools needed to run the job. Selects grinding wheel and mounts wheel on spindle Maintains tooling and makes machine adjustments necessary to maintain part quality Measures parts and makes precision adjustments to set proper relationship of work piece to associated tooling Positions and secures work piece between centers, on magnetic chuck, or in chuck jaws Selects and sets tooling speed, work surfaces speed, and travel rate of powered table. Positions and tightens stops to set depth of grinding wheel cut and stroke of worktable. Commands machine control to feed work piece manually or automatically Uses prints, P & M sheets, or SIP packets to determine tooling, machine adjustment/setup specifications and follows inspection instructions as stated on P & M sheets or routing sheets for each job. Maintains a clean machine and clean and orderly workspace Documents production on a daily basis as required Responsible for running quality parts, proper labor reporting and good housekeepin g Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be familiar with good machining practices. Must be able to use various types of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, air gages, height gages, indicators & a profilometer). Must be able to accurately interpret engineering requirements and perform specified tasks to complete required operations as specified.
