ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: Procurement leads the optimization of purchases across the Museum to sustain an environment of world-class strategic sourcing through an efficient Source to Pay (S2P) process. This is accomplished by utilizing industry best practices, which manage risk and administer sourcing functionality to proactively direct buying activities and protect the interests of the Museum. Through this process, Procurement:leads The Met in embracing a culture where sourcing and negotiations are standardized across the organization in a center-led model;acts as a financial steward and consistently, proactively delivers savings & cost efficiencies back to The Met;is known as the Subject Matter Experts regarding strategic sourcing;oversees Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Diversity & Inclusion;ensures our business processes are sustainable, manage risk and administer the right level of control and efficiency. GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: You will execute the Met's Procurement strategies and ensure the integrity of business processes in the acquisition of all Goods and Services needed for HR, Finance, Registrar, Curatorial, Retail, and President's Office at The Met. You will source Art Storage, Services and Shipment, as well as Professional Services, Logistics, Office Supplies, Marketing, and General Expenses within The Met's contract terms and conditions by ensuring on time, on budget and quality-based project delivery. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Drive procurement best practices to maximize ROI on engaged spend;Work closely with the requesting departments to clearly understand their requirements so as to provide early input into the sourcing process; research supply options and source candidates;Independently manage large RFP projects by working with internal stakeholders and suppliers per the defined process, from pre-qualification of suppliers, bidder communications, project tracking, bid leveling analysis, selection recommendation, negotiation and contracting, supplier onboarding, to achieve optimal TCO (cost, service, & quality);Have good understanding of the industries / market for the Art Storage, Services and Shipment , Professional Services (Legal, HR and Finance), Logistics (Registrar, Retail), Office Supplies, Marketing, and General Expenses and knowledge / experience of supply base in the local market;Process requisitions and change orders with an average of 2-day turn-around-time and release POs in a timely fashion;Validate fair values of incumbent sources through benchmark studies. Recommend alternate sources as appropriate considering attributes such as service levels, performance records, industry recognitions, and peer recommendations;Take remedial actions when suppliers are not performing as committed. Ensures that items are delivered on time and expedites where necessary;Participate in meetings with end users, and understand their urgencies, align solutions plans with Project priorities;Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and work with suppliers to respond with creative solutions under (sometimes) extreme time pressures to meet the deadlines;Formulate strategy in area of spend responsibility and drive cost reduction initiatives;Overcome barriers that inhibit diverse supplier from competing thus maximize diversity spend where viable including sub-tier spend to be considered in the sourcing process;Generate ad hoc work reports, provide periodic updates for management on activities and savings;Ensure that sourcing practices and Requesters' actions comply with the standard operating policies and procedures in all aspects of the source to pay process. Provide guidance to Requesters as appropriate.Other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and market research, supplier evaluation and selection, stakeholder and project management, negotiation, RFx solicitation, ensuring integrity of procurement process and PO qualityExperience sourcing Professional Services, Logistics, Art Services, Office Supplies, Marketing, and General Expenses is a plusExperience in ERP platform (Workday, SAP, etc.) and Sourcing Management tools a plusSelf-starter with ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, and to drive results independently and as member of the Logistics & General Expenses Procurement teamAnalytical, with solid proficiency in Microsoft OfficeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsContract and price negotiation, as well as supplier management experienceAbility to prioritize and manage intense workloads and multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced environmentAbility to assess and evaluate situations effectively. Excellent time management and organizational skills COMPENSATION RANGE: Pay Rate : $120,000 - $125,000The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
