Menlo Country Club (Woodside, CA) seeks an Assistant Head Swim Coach for the 2023 summer season! MCC is a private country club with a brand-new Fitness center, clubhouse, and renovated swimming pool. We have around 130 children participating in our summer program. We compete against other country clubs in the PISL league. The Assistant Head Swim Coach is primarily responsible for supporting the Head Coach by managing swim practices and meets, providing constructive technical guidance to swimmers, leading the team of Junior Assistant Coaches, and attending social and spirit events. The ideal candidate for this position: • Has a competitive swimming background and understands proper stroke technique, starts, and turns. • Is passionate about working with young swimmers and fostering individual improvement, strong character, teamwork, team spirit, and fun. • Is a natural leader, who is effective and comfortable mentoring swimmers (ages 4-18). • Is available for the entire duration of the 2023 swim season: May 2nd through June 3rd: Practices are on weekday afternoons/evenings. June 7th through July 15th: Practices are 10:15 am – 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm Swim meets are usually on Sunday mornings. There are a total of 5 dual meets and 1 championship meet. A detailed calendar will be provided. Some schedule flexibility can be accommodated. •Maintains certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR with AED, and First Aid (or can become certified prior to beginning work. We can certify you!). • Possesses positive and effective skills to communicate with the Head Coach, and Junior Assistant Coaches, Swim Team chairs, team parents, and board members. • Exhibits patience, moral character, reliability, enthusiasm, and confidence; works collaboratively and flexibly with others. Position Requirements: • Attend all swim practices, all swim meets, and social/spirit events deemed necessary by the Wellness Director or Head Coach. • Plan practice sets with specific areas of focus, under the direction of the Head Coach. Lead quality practice sessions with attention and enthusiasm. • Support the team by developing meaningful relationships with swimmers, fellow coaches, parents, and team leadership. • Help run meets smoothly, talking to swimmers before and/or after their races. Help ensure that swimmers are present and focused for their races. • Promote safety at the pool by following and enforcing proper precautions and pool rules. • Act in a professional, positive, courteous, and sportsmanlike manner at all times, both on and off the pool deck. • Additional tasks and/or duties as assigned by Wellness Director or Head Coach. • Private lessons are available outside of regular practice hours.
