GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, assists with procedures, including NCSs and EMGs to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of nerve disorders. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Adheres to the mission, values and established standards, policies, and procedures of the Medical Center and Patient Care Services. Prepares patients, charts, orders and equipment for appropriate testing and assists diagnostic nursing staff with testing and care of patients when necessary. Prepares patient, performs nerve conduction studies (NCS), assists physician with EMG, per physician order, prepares, and transmits report for physician interpretation. Performs pertinent patient history, records electric potentials and calculates quality results. Possesses sufficient knowledge of how the equipment works and ability to notice when performance of any instrument is not optimal to assure correct readings. Orders supplies and keeps department clean and stocked. Validates electronic orders and schedules patient testing once order is received. Schedules patient testing once order is received. Assists in maintaining all files and procedural logs and prepares monthly statistics and PI data. Assists other staff members of team to include but not limited to answering incoming calls, updating information in the computer, schedule appointments and procedures, preparing charts, ordering supplies and other tasks. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to all team members. Participates in training, orientation, and credentialing of new employees. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and maintains a clean and safe environment, adheres to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrates ongoing understanding of Corporate Compliance issues. Identifies Age Specific needs and complies with same. Identifies potential problems, actively searches for solutions and continually provides input to team regarding ideas and recommendations. Embraces and supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with BMC policies and procedures. Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to changes in workload, schedule, department function and procedures. Participates actively in creating a positive and harmonious work environment. Meets/exceeds competency criteria specific to the task/duties of the position. Completes all mandatory training within defined timeframe. Demonstrates ability to consistently meet patient satisfaction, supervisor requests, committee responsibilities, and Performance Improvement data collection on a consistent basis. Demonstrates commitment to career growth and competence through completion and documentation of all competencies, unit specific skills, annual HealthStream, in-services and corporate compliance. Demonstrates consistent ability to meet Personal Performance Summary Standards. Attends unit/staff meetings. Demonstrates full compliance with patient confidentiality and within HIPAA standards. Continually demonstrates courteous and professional relations with patients, staff and others and responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintains appropriate continuing education to remain proficient in characteristic duties as new equipment and standards are introduced. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS State of Iowa Nursing License (RN License) . Ability to proficiently write, read, and speak English. Ability to interact with positively with individuals. Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification-Health Care Provider.
