TITLE: Teacher AssistantCLASSIFICATION: Teacher Assistant: ASDREPORTS TO: Department Supervisor and Program TeacherEFFECTIVE: November 17, 2023LOCATION: Bridgeway (formerly Oak Park)EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Approximately 184 days during the school year - as per the terms of the master agreement for Teacher AssistantsEVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the classroom teacher and supervisor. Position Summary: The role of the teacher assistant is to assist in and facilitate student engagement and participation in educational instruction, activities, and routines initially designed by certified staff. Teaching assistants are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all information regarding students; to communicate programmatic information concerning students with the teacher; to understand and meet student needs derived from medical, physical, behavioral, social or emotional conditions within the school environment under the supervision of the teacher or other certified staff.Essential Job Functions: 1. Work effectively as a team within Northwest Education Services. 2. Problem solve in a professional constructive manner. 3. Demonstrate effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. 4. Represent North Ed in a positive professional manner. 5. Identify and work to prevent bias, prejudice, discrimination and oppression that interfere with individual rights in the educational process.
