Press Operator IIGrand Rapids MI General Scope of positionThe Press Operator is responsible for completing projects/tasks assigned to them by the Press Manager.This includes maintaining a clean and safe operating environment, testing product quality, efficiently operating machines, planning materials for production, immediately reporting any concerns/issues with safety, machines, quality, etc. to the appropriate individual, and more.Compensation for this position will be based on skill, and many advancement opportunities will be available. This may include opportunities within and outside of the Production Department. Safety Understand and follow all safety procedures and policies. Follow all safety rules and procedures established by the company. Take personal responsibility for own safety and fellow employees, correcting and/or assisting in thecorrection of any safety hazard identified. Immediately report any safety concerns/issues to the appropriate individual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Knowledge of operations of press to include how to power-up and shut down a press.2. Reads and understands print tickets.3. Completes press pre-run set-up checklist.4. Knowledge of all aspects of Mounter's "proof", print locations, eye spot locations, plate sleeve alignment and register.5. Knowledge of how to ink up ink stations and control chambered doctor blade assemblies.6. Ability to produce high quality product on all jobs.7. Knowledge of inks including mixing, viscosity and PH testing, color matching, toning, ink "work-off" & applications, and ink disposal.8. Knowledge of film and applications "press tracking" with regard to tensions, print locations, rewinding.9. Ability to insert roll shaft into roll of film and secure on press.10. Ability to remove roll shaft from roll of film and transfer to skid.11. Inspects printed material of printed roll.12. Cleans ink stations and printing plates.13. Ability to identify and complete all forms relative to quality, inventory, maintenance, product identification and production tracking.14. Ability to at a minimum identify and properly communicate all press related problems.15. Performs related duties to hazardous waste handling, including but not limited to: following waste handling procedures, storage requirements and emergency/contingency plan procedures16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations. Quality Adhere to and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined at Pregis Films. Perform all aspects of the position to the highest quality. Report any non-conformance to Supervisor immediately. Know all quality standards and expectations of the position and if not sure, ask the supervisor beforecontinuing. Qualifications Degree preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.Job Assignment Details 3 years' related experience or training. Flexible scheduling - Day shift with occasional night coverage. Able to work 8 hours possible 12. Physical Requirements Requirements include, but are not limited to (all times are approximate): Standing (Constantly - up to 12 hours). Walking up/downstairs (several times daily). Walking (Constantly up to 12 hours). Lifting/Carrying (regularly up to 12 hours - a minimum of 50 lbs.).
