Project Overview:Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nations aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Responsibilities:This role will support design development of Civil Site engineering designs for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.Work with other civil designers/engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.Originate and check Civil Site deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models earthwork/site design for aReview Civil/Structural deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models for steel and concrete.Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverablesReport design quantities compared to estimated quantities.Work with Civil/Structural supervisors to plan, budget and schedule drawing and 3-D model deliverables within the discipline.Participate in project design/model reviews.Participate in constructability reviews.Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. Qualifications and Skills:Basic QualificationsBS degree in a related field with 9 years of related design experience or AA/AS degree with 11 years of related design experience. In lieu of a degree, 15 years of related design experience.Must be United States Citizen by contract requirement Minimum QualificationsAdvance experience in the use of AutoCAD, Civil3D and Revit.Work experience should emphasize Civil Site design and horizontal projects such as rail and telecommunicationsMust be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, ASTM, FHWA, MUTCD and WBDG UFC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with Facilities Design.Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of Civil Site systems of moderate complexity.Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.Ability to resolve design issues with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client. Preferred QualificationsExperience in Utility civil engineering or outside plant engineering (OSP)Experience with designs including with horizontal directional drilling and jack & bore drillingExperience executing fielding design for horizontal projects such as rail or telecommunicationsExperience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and integration with engineering design deliverablesAA in civil engineering or engineering technology.Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher or working knowledge of other process improvement programs.
