Position Title: Sr. Chemical Engineer Job Brief: Danieli is seeking a senior-level Chemical/ Mechanical Engineer to assist with design of projects involving water treatment design, primarily in the steel making market. The successful candidate will provide engineering and technical support, working in the US office with the support of the overseas (Italy) group of other design/process engineers and project management team. The candidate will be dedicated to the North American market with support of the local Senior Technical Sales Manager. Experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment is preferred. Tasks and Day-to-Day Activities in the role: Assisting with selection and sizing of equipment such as, pump, water/wastewater treatment process equipment, vessels, pipelines, heat exchangers, valves, clarifiers, and filtration systems. Prepare and issue specifications, datasheets and requisitions for mechanical equipment purchase. Assisting with design and sizing of piping and pumps from the process standpoint. Developing Process documents such as Block Diagram, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), mass balances, water quality tables, sequences of operation, use and operation handbook. Selection of appropriate process treatment required for chemical and physical treatment of cooling. Process selection of demineralization system such as UF/RO, ion exchange resins, evaporation systems. Interfacing with other engineering disciplines, civil, electrical and automation, logistic, purchasing department, water chemistry laboratories, and equipment vendors. Assisting with cost estimates preparing bill of material and motor list. Co-author Operating Manuals, feasibility and treatability studies, engineering study and other technical reports. Do site survey on existing plants and related engineering studies. Support the Project Manager and attend technical review meetings with customers as required. Skill s and Must Have's: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Preferred 3-5 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment. Preference will be given to experience specifically in the steelmaking market. Must be able to read, interpret, and understand design drawings and specifications, OEM DS and tech spec, and other technical or engineering reports. Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be computer literate and competent in MS Word and Excel. Capability in other Microsoft Office suite products is desired. The position is primarily in the office with occasional travel in the US (10/20%). Overseas (Italy) training for some months may be required depending on candidate background and actual skills/ capabilities. Who is Danieli Group?
