Quality Assurance Inspector Job Description Position Title: Quality Assurance Inspector Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time Department: Quality Department Supervises: None Report To: Quality Control Manager Work Schedule: Day Shift: 7 am - 3 pm, M-Fri. Night Shift: 3 pm – 11 pm, M-Fri. Revision: 3 Edited by GA Pay Range: 18- 25 (Based on Experience) Job Purpose To maintain quality standards by ensuring that the incoming materials are approved; Approves the production run settings, and performs in-process checks during production runs. Essential Functions Hourly walk throughs to assign production quality inspection zones/areas and document potential improvements. Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor. Compare the last parts to the first parts that were approved to ensure product consistency. Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work. Fill out job travelers, time sheets, inspection documents, and any other paperwork associated with the part. Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into a quality database. Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges. Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs, maintaining records of calibrations, and maintaining up-to-date calibration on all tools. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Non-Essential Duties Interact professionally with organizational team members and other departments. Assists in formulating departmental strategic plans. Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees. Performs other duties as assigned. A willingness to attend training classes as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Minimum Qualifications Must have basic knowledge of how to use measuring tools (i.e., micrometers, calipers, angle finders, calibration concepts, R-R, etc.) Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions. Must have a working knowledge of computers. Must have basic math skills. Must be able to take verbal and written instructions. Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations. Working Conditions Manufacturing environment: You might be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials. Equipment/Machinery Used Calipers, height gauges, micrometers, tape measures , portable CMM, Virtek, torque wrenches. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 20lbs, kneeling, and standing for long periods. Employment Rights This job description does not list all the duties of the job.
