DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Weatherization is designed to provide energy efficient measures to low-income households. The installation of these measures not only makes these homes more energy efficient but also reduces energy usage and energy cost. Positions maybe funded by either ARRA or SDG&E and may be time limited based on program requirements and grant funding. DEFINITION Under supervision, will perform weatherization duties on residences of eligible recipients and provide on-site direction to new employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Prepare job sites implementing weatherization lead safe work practices. Clean up job sites using proper disposal methods Provide hands on training to Weatherization II workers at work sites. Extensive carpentry Drywall installation and repair. Roof shingling and repair Install doors. Perform entrance door modification. Install weather-stripping Prepare attics for installing turbine vents and insulation. Perform glass/window work. Apply glaze, caulk and silicone. Install carbon monoxide alarms. Install water saving devices. Install switch/outlet gaskets. Perform pipe wrap work. Troubleshoots, maintains, services and repairs to all equipment. Other related program duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Ability to: Ability to read work order, perform mathematical calculations in relation to job duties. Ability to document completed work orders (including costs for parts and labor). Must be able to identify construction materials from written and verbal instructions Must have lead safe work practices training Physically able to lift minimum of 100 pounds. Physically able to perform repetitive bending, stooping, and reaching. Good oral and written communication skills. Highly self-motivated, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work well in a highly stressful environment. Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with staff. VALUE-BASED BEHAVIORS Listens attentively to others. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION High school diploma or GED; AND Five (5) years related work experience an equivalent combination of training and experience. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.Mental DemandsWhile performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret information; analyze and solve problems; observe and interpret people and situations; use basic math; learn and apply new information or skills; work under intensive deadlines and interact with MAAC management, administrators, staff, teachers, parents, family members, children and others encountered in the course of work.BACKGROUND CLEARANCEAll positions are subject to a background/education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources.Note: California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client. Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.TRANSPORTATIONMust have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, daily use of a personal, insured vehicle, and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier.
