POSITION SUMMARY: The Product Test Technician plays a key role in testing hardware and firmware development of new and in-market embedded M2M/IOT devices. Products include wireless location tracking device, Android based tablets.The ideal candidate must be a quick learner and have a passion for technology. The candidate must be able to function in a fast-paced small company environment, wear multiple hats and independently solve problems with minimal supervision. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Independently execute test plans to validate device hardware and firmware/software releases•Perform regression testing on existing features and maintain resolution of previously solved bugs•Contribute to QA process by proposing and implementing new test procedures and test plans according•Prepare written test reports for engineers to implement appropriate software fixes•Interest in learning and applying process improvement practices•Occasional local travel to field testing facility and customer sites to execute test plans and troubleshoot deployed devices•Other duties as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS: •Associate degree in science, technology, or engineering field and/or 1 year of experience in a hands-on technical support role•High School Degree considered with 2+ years of relevant work experience•4+ years military experience in a technical job field also considered•Knowledge of PCBs and experience soldering and operating electrical test equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes)•Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel RELEVANT SKILLS – PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED: •Experience with electrical monitoring equipment required (power supplies, multimeters, waveform generators, oscilloscopes)•Knowledge of PCBs and experience soldering•Knowledge of GPS and wireless data (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) devices•Knowledge of JAVA, C or C++•Knowledge of serial communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, USB)•Interest/knowledge in golf and small motor vehicles is a plus PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment•The ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time (8+ hours/day)•The ability to lift to 30 lbs. (with or without assistance)•The ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, reach, stoop, and crouch•Specific vision abilities required by this job includes near, far, peripheral and depth and ability to adjust focus (with or without the use of corrective lenses)•Frequent exposure to outside working conditions GENERAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: •Computer Literacy / Information Technology – Experience using Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Android smartphone / tablet devices, Apple iPads, and iPhones.•Problem Solving – Ability to identify and work through problems without supervision•Time Management – Manage one’s own time and the time of others•Critical Thinking – Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems•Active Learning – Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making•Communication Skills – Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: •Requires up to 20% local travel SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: •NoneThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
