Title: Yoga Therapist Requirements: - Conduct 11 1-hour yoga therapy sessions per week for veterans at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center - Tailor sessions to needs of patients, incorporating gentle movement, breathing, relaxation, and meditation techniques - Make sessions accessible for patients with physical limitations - Have certification as a yoga therapist from a 200-hour Registered Yoga School (RYS) training program - Have minimum 2000 hours and 5 years’ experience teaching yoga to mental health inpatients at VA hospitals - Have certification in chronic pain, trauma, and mental health - Provide veteran-focused services with trauma-informed training - Incorporate 5 key practices: Discipline, Breathing, Posture, Meditation, Gratitude - Provide beginner level Hatha-based yoga therapy for veterans - Supply all necessary labor, materials, transportation, and supervision Tasks: - Plan and conduct 11 weekly 1-hour yoga therapy sessions tailored for veterans - Guide patients through gentle mindful movement, breathing, relaxation and meditation - Modify poses and exercises to accommodate patients' physical limitations - Employ trauma-informed teaching approaches sensitive to veterans' needs - Collaborate with VA staff to coordinate session schedules and patient needs - Maintain up-to-date certifications and knowledge of yoga therapy practices - Provide all necessary equipment and materials for sessions Qualifications: - 200-hour Registered Yoga School (RYS) certification - Minimum 2000 hours and 5 years’ experience teaching yoga to mental health inpatients at VA hospitals - Certification in chronic pain, trauma, and mental health - Knowledge of beginner level Hatha yoga therapy tailored for veterans - Strong verbal communication and patient education skills - Ability to tailor sessions to patients' needs and limitations - Commitment to professional ethics and safety - Reliable transportation to deliver on-site services Powered by JazzHR
