Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in St. Paul. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Senior Engineer and Facilities Team Engineering Manager, you will provide technical expertise, deliver projects to clients’ satisfaction, and contribute to a collaborative team environment. In addition, you will actively support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client meetings. Types of Projects: Facilities Design, Offices, Labs, Data Centers and Industrial Plants. Electricians with residential electrical experience such as photovoltaic (PV) and Wind experience who know how to do electrical design in AutoCAD. Responsibilities * Work collaboratively with the design team to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. * Manage assigned projects, ensuring timely completion through effective delegation, follow-up, and personal execution. * Search for or develop CAD drawing files and update drawings based on field site investigations. * Develop electrical design drawings and markups for the Electrical Designer and CAD Technician. * Attend design meetings with clients, present project updates, and address requests or concerns. * Design power distribution systems, equipment power, lighting systems, and other electrical components. * Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications in accordance with project scope and electrical engineering principles. * Maintain a basic understanding of architectural, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering practices. * Adhere to client-specific codes and standards. * Design lighting systems for various applications. * Develop project estimates and ensure adherence to scope. * Communicate project timelines, progress, and deviations to project managers and stakeholders. * Create project plans and schedules for efficient execution. * Support business development through proposal input and client interactions. * Provide work direction to team members and subcontractors as required. * Adapt designs based on unexpected circumstances or client changes. * Mentor and guide the Electrical Designer on client standards, codes, and practices. * Review and approve drawings for compliance with regulations. * Review and approve submittals to ensure compliance with project scope. * Manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Collaborate with architects, clients, construction managers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated design solutions. * Participate in project meetings and effectively communicate engineering concepts. * Plan, manage, and organize design reviews and final quality control processes. * Manage construction administration activities, including site visits and coordination with subcontractors. * Oversee ARC Flash Studies and external engineering subcontractors. Qualifications: * Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design for commercial and industrial facility construction projects. * Experience with 3M drawings preferred. * Previous leadership experience preferred. * Degree from an accredited technical school in Electrical Construction/Design or Electrical Engineering. * Strong knowledge of Autodesk products (Revit MEP, AutoCAD), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and stakeholders. * Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. * Attention to detail is crucial. * Strong knowledge of relevant codes and regulations, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, IFC, Energy Code, and Life Safety Code.
