JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Responsible for the day-to-day management, operation and accountability for all laboratory locations. Makes decisions, within guidelines, that could seriously affect the division, department and/or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Develops and monitors the budget for area. Direct reports include supervisors, and staff employees including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs job for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service. JOB FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to: Ensures that objectives of the department are administered. Maintains an organized department to ensure efficiency, accuracy of work, and information flow. Demonstrates effectiveness in directing the activities of the department. Demonstrates effectiveness in controlling the daily activities of the department. Provides leadership, direction and administration of assigned Clinical Laboratory Develops and implements a program of performance improvement to insure the delivery of quality patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Supervisory or Management experience in Laboratory services required SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist or Specialist license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Skills in planning and quality management.
