The Lead Software Engineer assists the Manager in leading a team of Software Engineers. The Lead Software Engineer assists in managing the day-to-day development activities and the associated tasks within the software development life cycle, including project management, planning, coordination, testing, documentation, and ensuring the quality of deliverables. The position performs hands-on, agile, team-based development as well as providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to less experienced engineers. The Lead Software Engineer is expected to provide consistent and clear written and verbal communications, serve as a backup to the Manager, participate in activities to fulfill the department’s mission, and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in computer science or technical management.7 years of software development experience, including at least 1 year as a senior engineer or other leadership role, and 5 years’ experience in object oriented design and development.Highly experienced in established software engineering standards and methodologies including creation and use of use cases, UML modeling, naming conventions, source control facilities, documentation; unit, system, and integration testing.Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management.Increasing responsibility in mentoring, managing, coaching and/or directing other software engineers.Experience with frameworks and libraries used in web applications and web services.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with ability to express complex technical concepts effectively. Preferences Experience with Spring frameworksKnowledge of J2EE deployments and application server configuration Additional information: This position does not provide sponsorship for Visas.
