Assistant Director 2, Public Services Salt Lake Community College Library Services Job Announcement SLCC library Services is seeking an experienced administrator to oversee the Public Services department. The position reports to the Director of Library Services and provides leadership, vision and oversight for Public Services at all library locations with a strong focus on customer service and accessibility. This includes Circulation functions, physical facilities and site support for locations that offer library services. It involves supervising full-time and part-time staff.The starting salary range is between $52,719 and $56,000 depending on experience and education. SLCC offers a generous benefits package . Job Duties Oversee the operation of and provide vision and direction for the Public Services Department of Library Services. This includes the public services desks, physical library spaces at multiple campus locations, some online library spaces, and Circulation functions (including library material check-out, Reserves, Inter-Library loan, inventory, and cashiering.) Explore and implement best practices and innovations in public services and library circulation. Provide leadership, support and supervision for Public Services full-time and part-time staff, including assisting in hiring, training, evaluating, mentoring, facilitating professional development and taking corrective action when necessary. Coordinate the scheduling of different services points to ensure that personnel are utilized in the most efficient and effective manner. Coordinate cross training within Library Services and with other college departments. Explore and implement best practices in personnel management. Provide vision, leadership and support for strong customer service to ensure a high-quality experience for all users. Oversee customer service training of library staff and other staff working in the library spaces. Coordinate the collection and management of data in Public Services areas. Analyze and utilize data to enhance library services. Serve on the Library Data Committee. Manage and improve the physical spaces in order to enhance the user experience for all library patrons. Perform Building Marshal duties and coordinate with the Emergency Response and the Environmental Health and Safety Managers on emergency planning. Participate with other departments to ensure the physical and online library spaces are fully accessible for users of all abilities. Coordinate the use of library spaces and collaborate on events, displays and exhibits. Assist the Director of Library Services as needed. Manage Library Services in the Director's absence. Participate on various college and external committees and task forces as assigned. Participate with library administration to ensure the overall effectiveness of library operations including development of library goals and policy, staff development and budgeting. Requirements Minimum Experience: Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. Three (3) to five (5) years of direct, paid, full-time experience of which three (3) must be supervisory experience. Preferred Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in public or access services at an academic library Skills and Experience A desire and ability to work in a community of students, faculty, staff and partners that is diverse and inclusive in terms of race, culture, nationality, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, politics and religion. A commitment to a high level of customer services and patron satisfaction Familiarity with accessibility standards and ADA requirements Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships and collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, student and the community Experience with hiring, motivating, training and developing employees Effective organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work under minimal supervision to perform a variety of duties Ability to manage multiple complex projects and activities Ability to evaluate and improve user-experience with library resources and services Experience with various library and college systems and software Experience with collection development functions Experience with data collection and assessment Ability to effectively supervise and manage staff at multiple library locations Interest and ability in developing and implementing innovative patron support and customer service programs and projects Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
