The dining room staff and volunteers serve a hot, freshly prepared meal to men and women experiencing homelessness every day, seven days per week. The Dining Room Director leads and directs staff and volunteers in providing a nutritious, well balanced meal to all that are hungry with compassion and hospitality in accordance with the mission of Loaves & Fishes. This is a full time position that may require some weekends and holidays, with full medical and dental benefits included. Duties: Oversee daily operations; supervise approximately 20 staff and volunteers each day Prepare monthly meal schedules with menus and food requisitions Implement and practice proper safety procedures at all times Manage staff scheduling, time cards and PTO sheets Maintain employee files containing disciplinary actions and improvements Provide hands-on training to new employees as they are hired Maintain adequate quantity of needed kitchen and janitorial supplies Manage Food Handling Certifications for ALL employees Maintain Cal Osha/Chemical logs for compliance Maintain compliance with all food and kitchen regulations, subject to County inspections Work with Volunteer Coordinator to solicit and develop volunteers Develop and maintain an annual operating budget Organize and plan for special meals/events as needed Monthly tracking and reporting of meals served (approx 400-800 daily) Participate in meetings/committees as requested by Executive Director Other duties as assigned Knowledge of: Budgeting and time managementTechniques in recruiting, interviewing, selecting and supervising employeesEmployee work schedulingUnderstanding of regulations pertaining to restaurants and food prep, including Cal OSHA requirements Qualities required: Candidates must have a commitment to the mission and philosophy of Loaves & Fishes. Candidates must be detail oriented, possess strong written and oral communication skills, strong organization skills and must be computer literate with experience in the use of Excel, Word, and the discipline to use other programs as may be required. Candidate must be willing to work in a fast paced environment, be flexible and compassionate to all. Supervisory experience is a must.
