Mental Health Practitioner - $22 per hour starting wageProvides direct treatment, individual/group counseling, and crisis intervention to female inmates participating in the Residential Substance Abuse treatment program at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women. Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, York, NE Monday through Friday, 7:30 - 4:00Examples of WorkProvide direct treatment, individual/group counseling, and crisis intervention to female inmates participating in the Residential Substance Abuse treatment program. Consult with appropriate staff regarding inmate mental status and treatment progression. Complete a variety of written documentation for assigned inmates in a timely manner. Participate in Treatment Team discussions and multi-disciplinary team meetings. Make decisions regarding inmates involved in mental health programming. Counsel inmates in adjustment to prison and assist in developing strategies for long-term coping and adjustment. Perform mental status assessments and evaluations, under supervision. Plan, with other treatment team members, follow up treatment services for inmate clientele released from program.Qualifications / RequirementsREQUIREMENTS: Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner or possess another license that allows the incumbent to provide the above mental health services as required by NE. Rev. Statute 38-2122. Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development, Psychology, Family Relations, Vocational Rehabilitation, Art Therapy, Divinity, Human Resources, Naturopathy, Mental Health or other field approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in order to become a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner AND 3000 hours of post-degree supervised counseling experience.PREFERRED: Experience with incarcerated population, experience working with substance abuse clients, experience with co-occurring major mental illnesses. Bilingual in English and Spanish desired and assessed.OTHER: License eligible candidates must be actively pursuing licensure to become fully licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner within a period not to exceed two years from date of hire, by providing mental health services under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner or other qualified professional. Transcripts required upon acceptance of job offer. Successful completion of background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to: demonstrate the application of therapy methods and techniques; communicate in person, by telephone, as a group facilitator, and in written formats with persons served, other staff, families, and other agencies; monitor patient progress and recommend new strategies; prepare written reports; document findings and treatment; conceptualize, integrate and express interdisciplinary input; explain the significance of behavior patterns and signs to patients and other team members. recblid 8ls9d55avogo9o5dgnr2izc1zdm9fv
