You will play an integral role in developing next generation Array-based assays for diverse research and applied markets. You will work as part of a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team focused on the enhancement of current, and development of new biochemical assays, applications and workflows for Illumina’s proprietary BeadArray technology. Job Responsibilities: Conduct focused research and development under general direction of supervisor to plan, conduct, analyze, interpret, and report recommendations based on experimental results in routine setting Develop new Array applications, assay workflows and assay automation methods Plan controlled experiments to characterize key components and finished reagents Recognize potential problems, understand and provide impactful insight to enable assays and workflows troubleshooting Deliver results in a fast-paced, results orientated, product development environment Proactively establish relationships within project team and discipline to drive project goals effectively Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Experience: MSc or BSc in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, or other Biology or Chemistry field with 1-2 years of experience in an R&D setting Expertise in molecular biology with hands-on experience with methods for nucleic acid analysis and manipulation including purification, primer design, amplification, labeling, hybridization for both DNA and RNA Solid understanding of biochemistry and experience running common assays for characterizing enzymes, polymerases, and antibodies Technical understanding of genotyping and common genotyping assays Able to troubleshoot assay processes to deliver root cause and robust fixes Effectively works independently or within cross functional teams to implement and execute experiments Demonstrated ability to interpret results, form conclusions, and suggest next steps Understanding of data analysis including statistical analysis and DoE. Proficient in Excel for graphing and scripting software such as JMP and/or R for analysis and visualization of large datasets Proficient in data presentation in power point Analytical, detail-oriented, organized and motivated to produce results independently to aggressive timelines Flexible and adaptable Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles, complete tasks/assignments to ensure team can deliver on milestones Excellent lab notebook and documentation skills Preferred Skills and Experience: DNA Array experience preferred Experience with assay automation/liquid handling is strongly desired.
