The Department of Sociology & Social Work and the Dorothy Day Social Work Program at University of Portland invite applications for an Instructor of Social Work (non-tenure track) who will serve as the Director of Field Education to begin August 2020. This is a nine-month, full-time, renewable position that includes undergraduate teaching, administrative and community outreach responsibilities. The Instructor will provide administrative oversight to University of Portland's BSW Field Education program and will participate in the overall design, assessment, and development of the BSW curriculum. Administrative responsibilities include recruitment and evaluation of appropriate field learning sites; placement of students in practicum sites; and periodic site visits. Travel to field sites throughout the greater Portland metropolitan area is required. Teaching responsibilities for the position include conducting the year-long social work practicum seminar; teaching an internship seminar for students in sociology, social work, and the psychological sciences; and instruction in other undergraduate social work courses to be determined.Located within the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Sociology & Social Work is a multi-disciplinary department offering Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Social Work (B.S.W.). Grounded in Catholic social teachings, the Dorothy Day Social Work Program is dedicated to working with vulnerable and marginalized populations and affirms the values of human diversity, self-determination, sustainability, and community and global solidarity. Priority will be given to candidates who have at least two years of experience teaching undergraduates and who enthusiastically support the University's commitment to students' academic and professional success.
