Senior Accountant Position Summary The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, which operates the Port of Cleveland and other lines of business, is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Accountant. The Port is a dynamic, entrepreneurial enterprise that combines the best of public and private sector management. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for day to day accounting functions through financial statement preparation. A smaller office environment requires a take charge individual with the ability to work independently and the flexibility to wear many hats. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity with a dynamic public agency. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Support monthly and annual general ledger closing processPrepare monthly general journal entriesProvide support in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and payrollManage and compile Fixed AssetsPrepare and review monthly credit card expense reportsAssist in preparation of monthly financial statementReconcile bank and general ledger accountsAssist in preparation of the forecast and annual operating budgetPrepare schedules for and assist in the annual external audit functionPerform other duties as assigned Related Skills and Abilities Advanced excel skillsExperience with various accounting software programs, Sage100 a plusStrong adherence to deadlinesWorking knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and their applicability to various business transactionsDetail-orientedAbility to work independentlySensitivity in handling confidential mattersEffective verbal and written communication skillsWell organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks Education and Experience Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting, with 2-3 years of accounting experience, Audit Experience is preferred.The Port of Cleveland offers a competitive compensation & benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
