Routt County Communications911-Dispatcher Summary of Position: The Communications Dispatcher I is an entry level Trainee position. Upon the successful completion of the training period and passing the performance evaluation, the Communications Dispatcher I will be promoted to Communications Dispatcher II and will be eligible for a salary increase. Salary Hiring Range: $3,905 - $5,281 per month plus an excellent benefits package. Deadline to Apply: February 2, 2020, 3:00 pm Status: Non-Exempt position Summary: Under direct supervision of a training officer, receive calls to the 24-hour communications center, analyze the calls and determine the appropriate response. Notify law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel of requests for service and follow through on all responses. Work with sensitive or classified information and documents. This is a professional, career position – not a stepping stone to Law Enforcement/Fire/EMS positions. Successful candidate must be able to gather and disseminate information quickly and accurately. Shift work, including holidays and weekends, is required. Some Job Functions Include: Providing pre-arrival instructions on medical calls. Performing data entry and retrieval within multiple computer programs. Answering multiple emergency and non-emergency calls. Dispatching Police/Fire/Medical agencies and other entities utilizing various radio, paging and computer-aided dispatch systems. Must be able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment, possess a clear radio/phone voice, have basic computer skills and the ability to type 30 words per minute. Additional Requirements: Applicants must be able to pass a background check. Colorado Bureau of Investigation regulations prohibit persons with felony convictions from employment in 911 centers.
