This is an opportunity for experienced crane operators to work with mobile bridge crews on awarded bridge construction projects in Western NE and North Platte, NE areas. Project work is seasonal, and subject to weather conditions and other factors.Individuals hired for this project will be considered for continued employment on mobile bridge teams beyond project completion based on performance and business operational needs. Individuals need not reside in Western NE or North Platte, NE area, and may be eligible for per diem in addition to competitive base pay and benefits.Highly qualified candidates will have prior experience in bridge construction or heavy highway/heavy construction. Successful candidates should enjoy working on a seasonal basis, and be willing to operate other heavy construction equipment or perform additional duties as needed. Work on mobile bridge crews requires the ability to travel extensively with overnight stays away from home for extended periods of time, and willingness to work in all types of weather conditions. In addition to an industry-leading safety record, and multiple options for year-round employee and family benefits programs, this position offers growth opportunity and a chance to work in a dynamic environment as part of a large construction organization backed by global resources.Summary: Operates a lattice and hydraulic telescoping boom-type crane, crawler-type, and/or hydraulic rough-terrain crane to hoist and move materials, drive piling and perform other related operations.Responsibilities:• Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly• Safely operate cranes, heavy equipment and vehicles within scope of assigned work• Operate crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions• Perform daily inspections of crane, rigging, and associated equipment; participation in critical lift planning• Perform minor equipment maintenance, such as inspecting, lubricating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment• Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks• Work closely with other employees to perform a variety of tasks required to complete assigned projectsQualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: • Two or more years of experience in operation of fixed and mobile cranes; experience operating Lattice Boom Crawler (LBC) required; experience operating Telescopic Boom - Swing Cab (TLL) preferred• Current National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) Mobile Crane Operator Certification, or the ability to become certified required• Previous experience in bridge construction and pile driving preferred• Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required• High school diploma or equivalent preferredPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions: • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance• Regularly required to use hands to make signal gestures, and move or manipulate objects• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception• Frequently required to walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; stand/work on feet for long periods • Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, loud noise, fuel, oil, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions• Work involves varying hours, including nights/weekends; Extensive travel with overnight stays away from home requiredValues Requirements:• Support, promote, and practice Simon core values, vision, and mission• Support, promote, and comply with Simon Code of Ethics, Workplace Conduct, Safety, and other established policies • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams• Align personal vision and goals with larger goals of the Company• Support continuous improvement to improve Simon processes, performance, safety, and overall successThe information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
