Field Service Technician Apprentice

Since 1917, Globe Machine has been a manufacturer of industrial machines, systems, and plants for advanced composites, building products, and pulp & paper. If you are mechanically inclined and naturally curious, this role is for you! In this role, you will start your career at Globe being exposed to our machines by working in our assembly department. It is here where you will build our machinery gaining a solid foundation before going out into the field. Average apprenticeship timeline is between one and two years. Once your apprenticeship is complete, you will travel the globe as a field service technician. This position is located in Tacoma, WA. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, drawing specifications, and parts lists. Gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements. Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies. Read and interpret engineering drawings, when necessary. Verify specifications by measuring completed assemblies. Other duties as assigned. Supervised responsibilities may include: Actively participate in the assembly and test of the equipment prior to shipment. Create detailed plans for installation, startup, and commissioning including schedule, tasks, resources, tools, and equipment. Gather hard or electronic copies of all drawings, schematics, and installation documentation for use in the field. Study and understand sequence of operations, control's philosophy, speed setups, and system performance requirements. Interact with internal and external project managers during field projects. Provide repair and repair supervision for Globe manufactured equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or G.E.D. strongly preferred. Machine assembly experience preferred. Able to successfully read engineering drawings required. Maintenance Mechanic or Millwright experience preferred. Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure required. Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, tactful, and self-directed when faced with tight deadlines and fluid environments required. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English required. Must possess a proven history of being reliable with excellent attendance. Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards. Proven ability to use hand, power and precision tools and gauges required. Must possess a valid driver's license and possess, or be able to obtain, a Passport and Transportation Workers Identification (TWI) card. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
