Do you enjoy whipping up healthy meals and have an interest in teaching others to do the same? If so, this is the perfect position for you! Hours: Monday - Friday daytime hours ranging between 8am - 3pm Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to lead, instruct, and conduct safe and effective healthy cooking as part of Healthy Cooking in the Classroom (HCIC). This will include travel to host schools, setting up for HCIC classes, advising volunteers/support staff, leading the HCIC lesson, working with students to complete lesson tasks, organizing clean-up and prep for follow-up classes, and communication with host school to include office and kitchen staff, students, and teachers. Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement): One year experience teaching; wellness education related courses preferred. Licensure/Certification Requirement(s): First Aid and CPR certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Demonstrates ability to effectively teach wellness related or healthy cooking courses in a fun and creative way that engages the participants. Adjusts instructions to the appropriate age and mix of participants. Organizes and prepares delivered supplies and occasionally shops for needed items. Coordinates with host school staff, items such as washrags, supplies, garbage, and storage. Keeps HCIC equipment clean, repaired and functional, informing supervisor of maintenance needs immediately. Inventories for additional supplies (ie. ingredients) and paper products as well as educational materials. Promotes all aspects and benefits of the HCIC program in a positive manner and by example. Communicates with the Wellness Education Manager effectively and frequently in terms of supplies, HCIC schedule, HCIC volunteers, host schools, staff and students. Be able to provide own transportation to off-site classes. Tracks expenses to be submitted monthly. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. BLOOD EXPOSURE This position has a low risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Training is required upon hire and maintained yearly.
