Description:

This position performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance. Requires the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills combined with NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license/limited permit. A Medical Technologist II works explicitly during evening/night shifts, providing coverage for all departments within the Cayuga Medical Center Laboratory. Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent. Licensure : Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist Experience: One-year prior laboratory experience required. Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated competency in Core Lab (Chem, Hem, Coag., Urinalysis), Blood Bank, and Microbiology rapid testing and plating within the introductory period. Ability to work in generalist environment. Good written and oral communication skills preferred. Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes. Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred.
