As a contributing member of the PeoplesBank Senior Leadership Team, the Market President - Commercial Banking leads a commercial banking team focused on business client acquisition and retention and assists Chief Commercial Banking and Lending Officer in execution of strategy to meet Bank's overall revenue and asset quality objectives within the Market President's footprint. Partners with other revenue-producing areas in the expansion and development of client relationships. Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities Recruit and oversee a commercial banking group that may consist of Regional Team Leaders, Relationship Officers, Portfolio Managers, and Commercial Lending Assistants. Lead business development efforts to grow PB commercial markets including lending, deposit, and service growth objectives, working in partnership with divisional leaders from wealth and retail. Specific focus on growth within Bank's Business Banking and C&I targeted industries and company sizes. Maintains professional community relations to increase the bank's visibility and new business opportunities, and to further personal development. Be actively involved in networking and banking associations to maintain a solid understanding of the competitive atmosphere and also to establish and maintain connections with bankers who could be a potential fit for PeoplesBank. Work with Chief Commercial Banking and Lending Officer to develop an annual budget that focuses on achieving the desired revenue levels and projecting necessary expenditures. Lead team in consistent execution of the Banks onboarding strategy, conversation model, and portfolio management expectations. Understand and coach to a sales conversation model focused on discovering client's needs and recommending the best solutions. Lead consistent team meetings focused on calling activities in addition to pipeline and portfolio management. Hold check-in's with team members routinely and also attend client calls with team members to provide a high level of support while also observing behaviors to provide applicable feedback. This position will have authorities granted in the Loan Policy and is responsible for understanding and abiding by loan policy as well as using sound judgment in the use of any applicable authority Provide oversight on terms and structure for loans presented by team members and strive to ensure any recommended structure meets the Bank's risk appetite, profit measurements, and makes sense for the client's long-term goals. Demonstrate c ompetency in evaluating credit risks and understanding cash flow to quickly identify qualifications of new lending opportunities Oversee overall quality of portfolio management of the team, including but not limited to line renewals, maturities, documentation exceptions, and timely, consistent communications with clients to be documented by call reports and review of financial information for accurate, updated risk ratings. Establish working knowledge of Bank's systems to effectively complete client research and input required lending information. Be a leader in the effective use of the Bank's CRM and LOS. Regularly seeks to improve Bank and team performance and makes recommendations for improvements/changes to policy, procedures, and calling activity levels. Works with Human Resources to recruit and hire associates for the team as necessary. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis through various training resources. Understands the Bank's BSA/AML Policy, including satisfactory completion of required annual BSA/AML training as applicable to position and appropriately applying this knowledge to daily activities and responsibilities, specifically understanding that any suspicious activity must be reported to the BSA Officer immediately. Educational & Other Requirements Minimum of 8 years of related experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a commercial lending leadership role. Bachelor's Degree in Business-related field or equivalent experience. Thorough understanding of Financial Statements, tax returns, and credit approval process. Strong human relations, communication, sales, financial leadership and analytical skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills in order to maximize business contacts and develop a working relationship with potential and current commercial customers. Motivation and drive must be exhibited. Interact effectively and communicate with customers multiple communication channels (electronically, in person, etc.). Interact effectively with all Bank employees. Must be bondable.
