Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in the area. JOB SUMMARY: A Postdoctoral Researcher position is now open on the research topic 'Evaluating peanut hull structure of peanut cultivars and germplasm under varying pre-and post-harvest environmental conditions with respect to the aflatoxin pathway'. Aflatoxin contamination is a recurring problem in the U.S. peanut industry. Pathogenesis of Aspergillus flavus on important agricultural products is a key concern on human health due to the synthesis and secretion of the hazardous secondary metabolite, aflatoxin. Research Requirements: Experience with cell culture, pathogenic variation, histology, and microscopy. Knowledge and application of molecular techniques as evidenced by scientific publications Organize and conduct multi-location disease nurseries and R & D activities in plant pathology Development of protocols and quality checks thereby delivering high-quality data Analyze, summarize and interpret the data of the experiments conducted in laboratory, greenhouse and on-station and on-farm trials Produce quality publications including peer-reviewed papers, research reports, communication articles, posters to be used in local and international conferences, workshops, training, etc. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, SAS, and fluency in spoken and written English is essential Aptitude to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural environments Qualifications: • A Ph.D. in agricultural sciences with experience in plant pathology• Strong experience in plant structural biology, histology, molecular techniques, and microscopicexaminations Additional Information: Location: Agricultural Research Station, Fort Valley State University Position Type: Term (Fixed Term) Scheduled Hours: 40 Requested Documents: Submit a letter of application addressing the above qualifications, current resume or CV, transcripts, published manuscript, and 3 professional work references with the application.
