BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after completion of the project. Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments. Install and maintain electrical control systems and solid state equipment. Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations. Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results. Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment. Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems. Write commissioning procedures for electrical installations. Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend approval or disapproval. Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units. Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations. Plan, schedule and monitor work of support personnel to assist the manager. Perform supervisory duties such as recommending hiring, work assignments,disciplines employees, approving leaves and completing performance evaluations. Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing experimental electronic and electrical equipment. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job. Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data. Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people. Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS [Minimum level of formal education that is required to perform this job satisfactorily] Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience. Masters degree preferred. TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Desirable technical knowledge of: PLC programming, Food Industry Process and Instrumentation, Automated Maintenance Program, General Industry Safety Regulations, Material Purchasing Experience, Network experience in: Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, Actuator Standard Interface AS-i, DeviceNet, PLC communication Network. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operate other equipment when necessary. Learn to perform other jobs in the functional area. Participate in CCJ Safeteam and Qualitivity programs. Train new employees. Operate process/equipment during training, emergencies, and labor shortages. Participate in the quality improvement process. Function as an informal leader in the areas of safety, health, quality, dependability, and productivity. EQUIPMENT Hand tools, power tools, diagrams, equipment maintenance manuals, measuring instruments, lift trucks, man lifts, ladders, solvents, leather and rubber chemical gloves, leather welder and rubber chemical apron, freezer jacket, respirator, ear plugs, hardhat, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Mobility to all areas and systems. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, wetness, vibrations, dust, moving equipment, heights, fumes, etc. Work is performed on rotating shifts.
