Description:
Must be able to provide the highest level of food possible in an efficient, courteous, personable, and professional manner. Assist in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables, making salads, and putting together entrees. The cook is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The cook is responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud. Evenings, weekends and holidays are required. Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices. Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Portion, arrange & garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons. Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Substitute for or assist other cooks as necessary during emergencies or rush periods. Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods. Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption Any other tasks assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. 2 years' previous kitchen experience. Ability to multi-task and be detailed oriented. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
