Position Summary : The Supplier Quality Associate drives adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and supports Lean initiatives for Terrasmart suppliers and third-party manufacturing vendors. Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties ): Quality assurance achieved through developing and implementing procedures with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Creates and develops a Quality Management Systems (QMS) for suppliers and third-party manufacturing vendors. Maintains supplier quality by enforcing quality assurance standards, policies, and industry/governmental requirements. Helps in the selection and qualification of best-in-class suppliers. Prepares and submits supplier score cards, action plans, and maintains an approved supplier list. Conducts in-depth review and follow-up on the implementation of supplier action plans for poor score card performance. Manages quarterly quality sample testing and inspection plans. Drives quality improvement efforts to establish and enforce an effective QMS across the supply base and aligns with manufacturing facilities within Terrasmart. Manages out-bound supplier quality and ensures a process is in place to provide feedback to suppliers when defects are found and ensure corrective actions are received and documented. Develops business processes and methodologies to support Lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and to reduce defects. Act as a liaison between cross functional teams, and to review and approve PPAP's from suppliers for submission to the manufacturing, product development, and engineering departments. Work with operations, engineering, and supply chain departments to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of contracted suppliers. Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing to devise sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality, and reliability data. Establishes effective quality management system by updating quality assurance manual and procedures. Contributes to change management procedures and cross functional department reporting along with document retention and storage. Reviews and standardizes control plans, closed loop corrective action systems, and quality management systems with suppliers. Develops and monitors the performance of the Quality Management System through data analysis and adherence to standards. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; achieving certifications, establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies when needed. Position Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary responsibility. Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience) Degree: Bachelor's Degree Major: Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related experience. Years of Experience: 3-5 Years Area: Quality Management Years of Experience: 3-5 Years Area: Leadership; Supporting Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or Lean deployment Technical Skills: Statistical process control, change management, continuous improvement, and other quality tools such as the PDCA cycle, FMEA, control plans, required. Licenses / Certifications Certified Lean, Six Sigma, or Certified Quality Engineer (preferred) Physical Requirements: Approximate time spent to be included in physical demands such a walking, or bending, specific lifting requirements (lbs.) and/or other requirements such as vision or hearing.
