Their work will impact and change future generations! **This role will be required to perform duties within Denver, CO on at least a monthly basis (as well as on an "as needed" basis). Therefore, GSCO is seeking candidates who reside within, or in close proximity to Denver, CO USA. Accounting Analyst: Working under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Accounting, the Accounting Analyst provides broad finance department support including reviewing and correcting transactions entered into the accounting system, processing credit card request and expense/reimbursement reports, managing budget spreadsheets and Abila imports, and support month end close processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure the accuracy of routine transactions entered to accounting software (Abila) Review revenue and expense transactions and batches. Review and validate coding, dating, entry logic/accuracy, and backup documentation before forwarding to Sr. Director of Accounting for final review. Review related GL accounts regularly for accuracy, inconsistencies, or errors. Oversee Expense Reporting and Reimbursements Administer the online credit card and cash reimbursement reporting system, process credit card requests, manage users, limits, and approval workflows, and support staff with access or other issues as needed. Support AP/AR Specialist as needed with monthly report review and approval. Support Month Close Processes As directed, support month end processes, including but not limited to: Bank, petty cash, and receivables reconciliations, prepaid expense tracking and recognition, and deferred income tracking and recognition. Credit card transaction import and liability review. BS/GL review. Budgets Analyze accurate and timely budget reporting by managing spreadsheets, data imports and exports, and utilizing adaptive quality-control techniques. General Support cash deposit control processes. Train and support AP/AR Specialist generally, and as SOPs are developed to record new sources of income and expense. Continually identify process improvement opportunities and work with Sr. Director of Accounting to implement process changes. Other accounting tasks as directed. Embrace diversity and inclusiveness by contributing to positive relationships between diverse racial, ethnic, and social groups in the Council as a whole and between employees and volunteers. Work successfully in a team environment. Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and girls. PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Support and work in tandem with other organizational functions and geographic areas including public relations, membership, resource development, and product sales in order to support organizational mission and goals. Work within communities to elevate and enhance visibility, understanding, and social and financial support of the Girl Scout mission and program. Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in the area of pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - None KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES (KSAOs) Demonstrated understanding of GAAP. Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting principles highly desirable. Skill in communicating accounting principles and requirements to non-accounting personnel. Advanced experience in accounting software, preferably such as Oracle, MS Dynamics, or Abila. Advanced Excel skills (Required: Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, communicating with data). Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. Positive attitude in the face of change and challenge. Must live in the Denver area, or within close proximity. Must pass a criminal background check. Education or Formal Training Preferred Minimum two years of accounting coursework. Additional training in not-for-profit accounting. Experience Required Three years' experience in transactional accounting or combination of education and experience. Two years' experience in financial accounting including bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations. Preferred Accounting and data process improvement experience. Inventory experience. Demonstrable understanding of fund/contribution accounting. Training/supervisory experience. Material and Equipment Directly Used Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office/home office environment. Working Environment/Physical Activities The bulk of these job duties will be completed from the employee's home office. Monthly, and as needed, the Junior Accountant will be required to visit GSCO Denver retail shops for cash pickup/drop-off and to provide cash-counting control for the Accounting Clerk. Therefore, access to transportation with state-required insurance and a valid driver's license are required for this position. Salary: This position pays a range of $26.44-$28.25 hourly, plus mileage reimbursement.
